About

John & Jona Dominguez

It all started with Jona’s experience in sober living….

In 2005 Jona completed treatment at Bayside Marin, in San Rafael, CA. She begrudgingly moved into sober living, at the suggestion of her therapist. It was there where Jona’s recovery took off. She found that her Sober Living Environment, or SLE, gave her the opportunity to focus on building a strong foundation in early recovery that was rooted in the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. She learned to live life on life’s terms, and thereby provided her the ability to parent her (then, 7 & 9 year old) sons with the integrity and moral compass that all children deserve.

John initially struggled with Jona’s newfound freedom. Like many codependents, he found himself feeling a loss of the woman he had married. Luckily in 2017 John found the rooms of Al-Anon and learned how alcoholism had negatively affected every facet of his life since childhood.

As a result of their hard work in recovery, Jona & John now share a happy marriage geared with principals and rooted in the 12 Steps. They have raised those 2 boys into stellar young men, which they are very proud of.

Jona built Phoenix Recovery to create a safe space for women in early sobriety. It is a nurturing and warm environment built around the 12 Steps.
